Massage Therapy

Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body.Massage does much MassageTherapymore than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues(the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and possibly even the organs themselves.Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

Swedish Massage: The most well-known type of massage. If you have never had a massage before, or are looking for something relaxing, this is the perfect place to start. Swedish Massages are full body massages using anywhere from feather-light to moderately deep pressure. This is typically done at a slow, gentle pace, with some variances based on the individual Therapist’s style. The skin is lubricated with natural oils while various massage strokes are incorporated that warm up the muscles and release tension.

Prenatal/Pregnancy/Postnatal Massage: For women after the first trimester of pregnancy or who are still in the first few months after delivery, this is a relaxation and hydrating massage. Pillows and bolsters are used to comfortably position a woman on her side or back while natural oils are used to hydrate the skin as the muscles are kneaded through slow, relaxing strokes.  Note: **High-risk women, should provide a doctor’s written consent prior to a massage.**

ETPS Therapy: Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation is a pain management device that produces small micro-current impulses that gently relax muscles, calm the nervous system and release endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers. This can be described as similar to acupuncture without using needles and applying micro-current to the acupressure points to stimulate endorphin release and muscle relaxation. The treatments are not painful and do not involve needles!

Therapeutic/Combo Massage: Since we all know that each individual has specific needs, a combination or “Therapeutic Treatment” is often times recommended for clients. By combining various techniques we can better ensure that the total body experience felt by the client is not only relaxing, but addresses specific areas of concern. Whether it is a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue with Acupressure or ETPS each session can be tailored to your specific needs. Be sure to discuss your needs with us prior to your session.
**Times for Massages are indicative only and include consultation and changing time**
